Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru became honorable ambassadors of EXPO-2017

12.12.2015, a Memorandum of Cooperation between JSC “NC “Astana EXPO-2017” and the cycling team “AstanaProTeam” was signed.

CEO of JSC “NC “Astana EXPO-2017” Akhmetzhan Yessimov noted that “AstanaProTeam” confidently holds the leading positions in the world ranking of sports and is one of the recognizable brands of Kazakhstan.

“The President of Kazakhstan set the task - to prepare and hold the Exhibition at the highest level. To this effect, much work is in progress on international promoting of EXPO-2017. According to the Memorandum, the logo of EXPO-2017 will be on the shirt of our cycling team “AstanaProTeam”,” - said the CEO of the National Company.

Besides, Akhmetzhan Yessimov handed over the certificate of “Ambassador of EXPO-2017” to the leaders of “AstanaProTeam”.

“We have established an honorable status of EXPO 2017 Ambassadors, which is assigned to well-known public figures, representatives of science, culture, sport and business. And today these certificates are obtained by road bicycle racers of “AstanaProTeam” - Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru,” - said the head of EXPO-2017.

In turn, General Manager of “AstanaProTeam” Alexander Vinokurov said that the cycling team will glorify Kazakhstan by its victories and promote EXPO 2017 at the international level.

“We are pleased that we will promote the Expo 2017 Exhibition which logo we will be proud to have on our shirts and promote the idea of future energy. Bicycle is a sport, environmentally friendly transport. Therefore, subject of the Exhibition and cycling have a general idea,”- said Alexander Vinokurov.

General Manager of cycling team thanked Akhmetzhan Yessimov for the popularization of cycling in Kazakhstan.

Under the Memorandum the parties intend to cooperate in the areas such as promotion of the EXPO-2017 Exhibition in the country and abroad, participation in joint events organized for informational support to the Exhibition, branding of shirts of cycling team members and vehicles by EXPO 2017 logo. In addition, the Exhibition organizers and cycling team will work to ensure the mutual consultative informational and analytical support in the areas of cooperation, as well as popularization of the Exhibition subject “Future Energy.”

Looking back, the cycling team “AstanaProTeam” was created at the initiative of the Head of State., It celebrates its 10th anniversary in the following year. During this period the cycling team gained 199 wins – in Stages, 7 – in Grand Tours.
