WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT THE OMICRON STRAIN?

Based on data from 89 countries around the world, the Omicron VOC is 3-4 times more transmissive than the Delta variant, according to a high-level European panel on CVI.
The doubling time of Omicron is about 2-3 days.
However, Omicron VOC has not yet been proven to be less dangerous than Delta.
Limiting social contact and reducing indoor population density reduces transmission risks, experts say, as
superspreading events have occurred in places where groups are in close contact, in rooms with poor ventilation.
The keys to reducing the risk of infection with the Omicron strain are:
The three-dose vaccination regimen (or two doses + cured Covid) should be considered as a complete vaccination regimen for everyone;
Reducing social contact and interactions in the workplace is the most effective way to reduce transmission.
When an interaction occurs, the following measures can reduce the risk of transmission:
Cleaning the air of the room in which people are;
Less density of people, allowing physical distance;
Mandatory and strict observance of the mask regime indoors and on the streets;
Restriction of mass events;
Strengthening all precautions for more vulnerable people.
Representatives of the expert group emphasize: “None of the following measures alone is effective, but in combination they can significantly reduce the risks of infection transmission. They are conceived and recommended to avoid much more stringent measures such as curfews, hard lockdowns or school closures, which should only be applied as a last resort.”
